IS THERE ANOTHER, ANYWHERE
What can compare with His mercies?
His deep graces and endless faithfulness?
Is there another anywhere who can match His splendour or His beauty?
One moment, one glance, one touch is enough to settle that account.
The One who bestows such depth and favour on His unworthy, yet dearly loved children.
He stands alone.
There is none like Him.
Is there another whose voice would thunder more rapturously or whisper more intimately?
Is there another who welcomes or cares more knowingly?
He is endlessly good.
He is unfathomably, captivatingly glorious.
He is kind. So very, very kind.
He is mighty.
Fierce, jealous, present.
He is more than enough.
He is.
As I fall to my knees, with eyes and heart as awe-filled wells, I am grateful for the privilege of being able to express any kind of response. Who am I that you should accept my mere offering?
And yet I do, I continue to offer it. Because I cannot otherwise.
For all that You are and all that You have ever been.
For Who it is that Graces me daily.
The Shepherd.
The Warrior at my side.
The Father.
Earth pauses, Father, to recognise You; even if they barely know that they do so.
Time was severed in half the day You came. Your presence carved our history books down the centre, as it still does today. Your presence carves our personal histories right through the centre.
Today Father, those of us who know You, celebrate! We reverently draw our loved ones close and recount Your majesty to hungry, thirsty souls. We honour You as best as our mere humanity allows us to. We cast our hearts on You and axis this season around You.
Still us Father, for a moment, still us. To cast our eyes on You.
Just as the earth has orbited the sun a full rotation since last Christmas, so our lives choose to orbit You daily, weekly, annually. Today we see you again in Your humble splendour, miracle of all miracles.
And we thank You.
Our hearts swell with recognition again.
Be honoured in our generation, we pray.
Be seen through our lives.
Be worshipped in who we are and how we are.
May the words of our mouths, the meditation of our hearts and the deeds of our hands bring You joy, sweet Father and Friend.
Our gift back to You, Heavenly Father, our hearts, our lives.
Be blessed by us, Your children, this day, this Christmas Day.
We thank You.
Our hearts swell with worship again.
